Welcome to Tramitem Your first memory event... It hits you from out of nowhere, one second you are going about your day, and then for ten or thirty seconds, everything - your surroundings, your sense of self - changes. You see a moment from another life. When you came back to your senses, there is an elderly man waiting for you, and a team of workers administering to the people in your immediate vicinity. They seem to be doing something intrusive to those other people, but they are leaving you alone. How did they get there so fast? Mr. Martin introduces himself, he is the Head of the Department of Containment at the Bureau of Interdimensional Activities, his accent is hard to place. But he begins to explain the multiverse, and now your world has turned upside down. “In summary, what you’ve just experienced is the memory of a past life. You will receive more, but I cannot tell you how many, when, or what they will be... You are one of The Different now... The Bureau will be keeping an eye on you,” Mr. Martin says, and he hands you a card with the acronym ‘BIA’ on one side, and a street address, a phone number, an email address, and a forum website address on the other. “There are others like you, experiencing memories from a past life,” he continues. “The Bureau has set up a network so you can connect, find support… work out your confusion.” There’s something sinister about the way he says that… maybe? It’s hard to make sense of everything happening so quickly. “And one more thing – do try to stay out of trouble.” That definitely makes you feel uneasy. The immediate vicinity, once teeming with Bureau workers while Mr. Martin was explaining your new reality, has emptied except for the people who were there before everything changed. Mr. Martin walks away, leaving you to process. Was this even real? Who do you tell? Do you try out this Network? Are there really more people like you? You have to tell someone! Arrival FAQ Is this a joke? Nope. It's all real. How do I make the memories stop? You can't. You can only accept the inevitable. Is the Bureau behind this? They've said that they are not. Can I tell the people in my life? Worth a shot. Do they believe you? If they were around you during your Memory Event, they won't remember any of it. Makes it tricky to convince them, huh? Actually, outside the Different and the Bureau, no one will believe your character. Can I seek out the Bureau? I have some thoughts to express. You have their address, go talk to them. But they'll be tight with answers. What if I try to hurt members of the Bureau? You can try, but they have their ways of protecting themselves. You won't succeed. Many of the Different have been understandably suspicious about this Network - was the Bureau using it to spy on them? So a few of the Different banded together and hacked the system to give them a way to communicate privately with one another on the Network. They created a privacy filter for their posts. The Bureau doesn't know about this privacy filter as of right now. Your are welcome to handwave assume your character learns about this privacy filter from one of the Different (there are NPC Different that come to the Support Group Meetings) or you can see if through interaction with the played characters if one of the played characters informs your character about the privacy filter. The in-game mechanic is that all posts on the Network with either "Filtered" or "Filtered from the Bureau" in the subject line are privacy locked to only the played characters along with all the comments. Any post lacking either of those phrases in the subject line are NOT private and the Bureau may be reading them. The filter cannot be added to comments after a post is made.
